Mentor Sessions

Hey there, friend. I’m so glad you are here!

Two things I am deeply passionate about are community & photography education.

Community is the thread that brings people together. Community is where we find encouragement, support, inspiration, accountability, counsel, & a sense of belonging. Not only is it important to have community, but it’s also important that you find the right community - a place where you can be vulnerable, a place where you can be honest, & a place that you can grow.

In the earlier part of my journey, I mostly did things on my own. The times I tried to reach out to others for help, I was met with the sense that I just needed to figure it out for myself. That was really discouraging, but what that made me realize is how much I wanted for others to know that they didn’t have to walk their journey alone & offer them what I could not find. There’s a quote that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I am deeply grateful for the creative community I have today. They are few, but they are strong. They’ve taught me so much & I would not be who I am without them in my life.

If you are here, it may be because you don’t know where to start. Maybe you feel stuck. Maybe you feel like you’ve exhausted all of your efforts & you don’t know what to do next. Maybe you’re just eager to learn. I’ve been in all of those places. Honestly, I revisit those realities in different seasons of life because that’s just part of growth. It’s okay to be facing unknowns. It’s okay to not have all of the answers. It’s okay that your journey doesn’t look like someone else’s (because it’s not supposed to).

The reason that I am here is because my heart is to offer you what I have learned in my own journey in the hopes that it will help you on yours.

At this time, mentorships are only available in Birmingham, AL.

What Others Are Saying

After spending the day with you, I can’t just send a kind word or two; it’s more than that. I’m speechless. I had so much fun with you! I came home and read all the kind words from your previous clients and every single one is on point with describing you, and who you are as a person. You are authentic, thoughtful, loving, and talented. You are extremely passionate, and unique. You tell stories, and you tell them well. From the moment we started talking up to the day we met, I felt like I could be 100% myself with you. You made me feel welcome. Dakota, you have a gift and I’m grateful I got to meet you and spend time with you. It was the best. day. ever. I was in a rut and feeling defeated and after meeting with you, I am now feeling refreshed and feeling more confident than ever. So thank you! Thank you, a million times thank you!

So, can I be 1000% honest here...I am beyond grateful for everything about this mentorship. My time with you not only opened my eyes to things I needed to move forward with in my business, but also just opened a creative side I really didn’t know I had. I was reminded so much why I am a photographer and why this is my passion. As I told you, 2020 was a rough year for me. I really didn’t feel “in love” with photography like I had been before I started this full time. I remembered that it has nothing to do with pretty photos or social media algorithms, but about my clients and their stories. People, that’s what matters before anything else. I can’t say thank you enough for all the dedication you put into me as a photographer, but also as a friend. I just appreciate you down to my core. Honestly, besides my first full frame camera I’d say this mentorship is the best money I’ve spent on my business. That’s no fluff - it’s hard facts, yo.
